Sorry I was not able to send this out over the weekend. I was moving my daughter back to college, and I did not do anything school related all weekend so I could just focus on our family.
Walk-a-thon
Walk-a-thon information went home with your child last Friday. This is our only fundraiser that directly helps our class go on field trips! Our walk-a-thon will be on Sept. 5th. If we do not raise enough money as a class, our class will not be able to attend the play and/or the pond. Everyone’s help is greatly appreciated to make this fundraiser a success. If you know any business owners, feel free to ask them if they would like to sponsor our class, too! It is a tax write-off!
ME Doll Project
This project went home last Thursday, and they are due on September 6th. Please make sure your child practices what they are going to say for the presentation. I know how tempting it is as a parent to do most of the project for your child so that it looks “perfect”. That is not what I want. I want your child’s project to be “their project”!! Please refrain from doing most of it for them. Thank you!!
Spelling Dictation Tests
Your child’s spelling grade in 2nd grade is based on being able to spell various spelling patterns, and that is tested by them spelling dictated sentences. As second grade teachers, we decided to give the kids weekly practice to help them feel successful on the trimester tests. They took their first one on Friday, and they did awesome!! It is in your child’s folder today, along with a paper that explains the purpose and scoring. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Homework
Your child’s first homework packet was turned in last Friday. Most of them did great! Just a couple of reminders for them that we talked about in class today.
* Everything should be completed in pencil, except for writing their words in different colors.
* They need to circle their spelling words in their sentences and paragraphs. They also need to remember capitals and end punctuation marks.
* Everything needs to be in their best handwriting.
Thank you for checking your child’s homework and signing the bottom!
Weekly Reports
Many kids are forgetting to have you sign their Weekly Reports in their folders over the weekend. They may need reminders for a couple of weeks. Can you please remind them? I remind them every Friday, and we practice how to ask our parents, but many are not still not remembering.
