Thanksgiving Break is finally here! This has been a wonderful week in our classroom talking a lot about being kind, sharing, and being thankful. I hope you and your family are able to spend some extra time together next week. I know I am looking forward to being with my family for the week!
Extra Credit Math Assignment
This went home with your child yesterday, and it is completely optional! If your child chose to do it, they wrote their name on the top of the paper. However, I sent one home with everyone, just in case you wanted your child to do it. This needs to come back completed on December 2nd.
Holiday Tradition
If you have had a child in 2nd grade at George Kelly before, you will probably recall that they had to do a big presentation during the month of December to share a holiday tradition with the class. That has changed this year. The information went home with your child today about this. They will be completing a small poster about their tradition, and then they will share it with the class. They do not have to plan a huge presentation with props and something to engage the class like we used to do. They just need to complete the poster and then share about the tradition with the class. I hope that makes you smile and eases your mind. Please check your child’s folder today and keep this in a safe place!
Book Orders
I sent book orders home today. These are due on December 2nd. If you would like them to be for Christmas gifts, let me know! I will put them in something so your child doesn’t know what they are! Many kids are into the Dog Man and Bad Guys books. I showed them today how you can search for thousands of books online that are not in the flyers! If you spend $25 online, you can choose a book up to $5 for free, using the code “READS”.
George Kelly Giving Tree
Please join us in helping make this season a little brighter for some of our Kelly School families who are in need this year. The wish tags of our “adopted” families will be hanging on a tree in the office for community members to view. If you can donate one of the gifts please take a tag, purchase the wish and return the item back to school with tag attached. The tree will be on display in the office until all wishes are picked up. For questions, email Mrs. Finnegan at [email protected].
12/3-12/12 - Pick up wishes from tree in office
12/4-12/13 - Return unwrapped gifts to the office with tag attached
12/13 - Last day to turn unwrapped gifts to the office with tag attached
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am thankful for your children every day. They make me smile and want to come to work every day. I am also very thankful for your continued support!
